Garage Sale & Spray Paint

Remember my garage sale finds awhile ago?  Well my sister-in-law found some cute
stuff too, she scored this wall art for $2.

For $2 and some left over spray paint she made it into this...
a lovely piece of artwork with light distressing.

She needed some artwork in her newly remodeled bathroom,
I think it fits in nicely with the beachy decor.

And best of all...she texted me this picture yesterday from
TJ Maxx that she found for $20!!!!  That is an $18 savings, score!

She and my brother-in-law found this totally cute set that
someone was getting rid of for free,
I can't wait to see what they do with it!

Thank goodness for spray paint!!

Striped Wall Update Decor

You know when you are getting ready to have a party at your house and all of the sudden you need to finish at least two of the things that you have had on your "to do list" for ever but all of the sudden it has to be done right this minute???  That was what I was doing on Friday before our annual cornhole tournament on Saturday.

This (pic below) is what our wall has looked like since I painted the stripes back in February.  The same mirror has been up since we moved in 2 years ago and the pictures on either side I stole from the bathroom after trying plates that didn't quite cut it....so the bathroom has been pretty much bare since then.  I didn't love the pictures but I left it like this, for a long time, longer than I would have liked but I just didn't have the drive to replace it all until Friday.  And then it was compulsive that I do it all right that second!!!

Now after a little TJ Maxx shopping trip there's been some much needed changes on this focal wall.  In came a new mirror, and two new pictures, and the console I purchased at a garage sale recently.  The mirror has been switched out with a more rustic finish, the ornate silver finish mirror went into the makeup room, and the pictures finally went back into the bathroom.

Here is how it looks now!

With the addition of the new, bigger artwork...

and a new rustic, painted mirror that style fits way better
than the shiny mirror that was there before....

and the el cheapo console table I scored for $2 bucks!

So after a long wait I am kinda lovin' the changes that have been made and I couldn't beat the $2 console table...still can't believe that!!!  And to top it all off, I painted OVER the coral paint samples that were ALL OVER the bathroom, put the pictures back up and it looks back to normal in there now.  I think I'm kind of over the whole coral paint now that I have a hot pink room!!

Thrift Store & Garage Sale Lovin'

First I want to show you a set of lamps that I purchased from the thrift store the other day.  I picked them up and put them back a few times before remembering something, that if you ever see a set of vintage lamps that work, you should always buy them.  Not sure if I actually heard this somewhere or if I just made it up in my head!!  But I thought the set had enough potential that I couldn't leave them behind.

What would you have done, is this something that you would have jumped on or left behind?
I still can't decide if they are really cool or just really ugly.

I found these more updated shades at Target.  I like how they mimic the lines on the decorative balls.

So what do you think?  Should I spray paint the brass-y to a creamy white or leave them alone?

This morning I was so excited to have a garage sale right across the street from my house.  My husband usually works on Saturdays and the kids like to sleep in so I never get to go to garage sales.  I snuck over there early and scored some good deals.

First the practical.  I have been meaning to pick up one of these yellow guys for awhile since the kids like to ride and play in the street.  It has never been used.  The booster seat was only $5 and we can always use one of those.

Lanterns and a wreath.

A large woven bowl that I plan to display on a wall.

A large, wood console table.  My neighbor said it came from a kitchen store and it is exactly what I have been looking for to display my large platters and bowls that take up too much space in the kitchen cabinets.  The bottom is perfect for large baskets to keep linens.  I paid $2 for it.

My only problem with it is that I have a feeling that it has been left outside for awhile and it is damp and molded.  Not sure what to do to remove the black from the finish.  I was thinking a bleach mixture and Brillo pad.  Any ideas?

And last, I scored this great bench.  It is heavy enough that I could not pick it up by myself.  This is the perfect way to wait for the bus when school starts.  My idea is to put it at the corner of our property and plant a Crepe Myrtle tree to provide some shade.  Two planters on each side with some Vinca flowers would look too cute too!

All in all I spent $16.50 at the garage sale and I feel like I scored some great deals.  Now I want to go every weekend, I need to get these kids of mine to wake up earlier... they can eat breakfast in the car, right?!?!
