We had a fantastic time glamping (glamour +camping) in Townsend, Tennessee last week. I tell you what, an air conditioned cabin is the way to go!!! It has everything you need but still peaceful and secluded, so it still felt a little rustic. Our campground was right on the Little River, where we went tubing. So much fun!
Our cabin.
We had our own porch.
It even had a little tv so the kids could watch morning cartoons.
Lovely sofa with wildlife decor...
A just big enough sized kitchen.
The kids were loving the bunkbeds.
A comfy bed for Mom & Dad.
Full bathroom that I was LOVING!!
Cades Cove.
An 11 mile loop through the Great Smoky Mountains.
The first settlers to Cades Cove.
Their cabin.
It's hard to imagine what their life must have been like, there was nothing in the cabin except for a fireplace.
You think why would anyone want to come live here in the wilderness, alone?... and then you see this view and you can understand why.
My husband's only request was that we go to the Old Smoky Moonshine store in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Some classy drinking glasses.
I imagine if you had too much of that 100 proof moonshine, you would look something like this.
We also visited the Tuckaleechee Caverns that my husband's family has ties to. His grandfather's cousin use to play in the caverns when he was young and helped develop and open them up to the public in 1953.
Underground waterfall.
We went to the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge and did a little shopping too. I got this pretty piece of turquoise from the Dog'wood Mall in Townsend. The owner was a very nice man, and come to find out he is from my city of Virginia Beach. Small world!!
The Little River.
We spent a lot of time tubing and swimming, such a beautiful and peaceful place. I was sad to the leave the river but we hope to get back to the beautiful Smoky Mountains next year.
I have been busy building my new makeup blog. You can visit by going here http://makeupbykimporter.blogspot.com/.
